Für unseren Kunden suchen wir ab sofort einen Virtualization Engineer (m/w/d) KVM & VMware vSphere für den voraussichtlichen Zeitraum bis 12/2024 mit der Option auf langfristige Verlängerung. In diesem großen Greenfield-Projekt kann unter Nutzung moderner Technologien ein Beitrag zur Energiewende geleistet werden. Das Projekt ist als Vollzeitbeschäftigung geplant. Mindestens eine Woche pro Monat wird vor Ort in Berlin stattfinden.

The team is building an internal platform for software product developers to accelerate the development and delivery of software products to tackle the massive challenges facing the energy sector. The Platform is a service oriented, cloud-native platform that is being built to provide application teams with self-service capabilities to develop, run and operate their software products. The Platform provides services for application infrastructure, data, service lifecycle management, application build and delivery as well as services to operate their software products. The platform is deployed as a hybrid cloud, encompassing both private cloud and selected public clouds.
Profile Requirements:
- The individual must have and at least 5 recent years working as virtualization engineer. Knowing the entire life cycle of installation, operation, backup, recovery and de-commissioning.
- The individual should be able to clearly communicate with peers and architects about the ideas, the designs, and document in a professional readable manner including diagrams.
- Problem analysis and resolution competencies
Must-have competencies / skills:
The Role will be responsible to deliver and administrate virtualization on dedicated hardware, similar knowledge is a must have requirement.
- Engineering Experience with KVM host as a hypervisor based on Ubuntu (Libio, libvirt).
- Detailed knowledge about the KVM lifecycle management (install, maintain, decommission)
- Very good experience to use and install KVM (Libio, libvirt) on dedicated hardware Dell or HPE
- Patching and automation of KVM.
- Hardening hypervisor (CIS)
- Integration of KVM into observability.
- System analysis for Incident Management and to support Problem Management.
- VMware vSphere fundamental knowledge, experience to install, maintain and use VMware vSphere ESXi and vCenter.
- Planning and performing update and upgrade scenarios for the above technologies.
- Experience to use OneView, OpenManage.
- Experience to use Jira, Confluence and Miro.
- Fluent English in speech and writing (at least C1)
Preferred competencies / skills:
- RHEL, LDAP, OIDC, OAUTH, PKI Certificates, HashiCorp Vault and Packer, CIS Hardening, NetApp, Ceph, common applications like Apache Webserver, Nginx, git, PostgreSQL; Gitlab (Repo and Pipeline)
- Optional: Fluent German in speech and writing (at least B2)
